West Ham have responded to widespread claims the club are closing in on three more singings and are trying for a fourth.

One of the big issues for football fans during the summer transfer window is credible information.

Each club, including West Ham, has sources supporters trust and respect.

Hammers supporters are fortunate that there are a host of very credible individuals and outlets who keep them updated regularly.

But in the race to be first some in the wider football media, who are not as well connected with West Ham, jump the gun.

After a three-and-a-half week lull in West Ham’s transfer activity, the window burst back into life in the last 48 hours.

Technical director Tim Steidten had found himself being questioned.

The Hammers board have also been criticised for failing to get deals over the line.

But all that was quickly put to one side when rapid progress suddenly appeared to be made on moves for a number of targets.

If you believed some of the reporting around deals, West Ham fans would be waking up to three new signings this morning.

Man United’s Aaron Wan-Bissaka, Leeds United’s Crysencio Summerville and Dortmund’s Niclas Fullkrug were all said to be close to agreeing moves to West Ham yesterday.

There were even claims Summerville and Fullkrug would be joining eachother on a plane out to the US in time to link up with West Ham for the pre-season friendly with Palace this weekend.

Speculation has also reignited that a new move for Jean-Clair Todibo could be successful.

Off the back of the reporting of several deals, anticipation and expectation is at a new high.

Hammers fans have been excitedly producing, and changing on an almost hourly basis, new-look West Ham line-ups.

Supporters have been discussing how the imminent new signings will fit in.

But what is the reality of West Ham’s situation this morning?

Reality of Hammers situation after widespread claims

Hammers News spoke to the top source close to the owners to find out.

And West Ham have issued an astonishing transfer update on four deals after the widespread claims.

As Hammers News has consistently reported of late, deals are not done, as some media have been reporting.

There is good news for West Ham fans, though, because several are now close. And that includes the club being specifically asked about trying again for Todibo.

It was put to the top London Stadium source whether terms have been agreed for Wan-Bissaka and whether a deal had been sorted with Dortmund for Fullkrug.

The contact was also asked whether Summerville was signed and seal pending a successful medical.

‘We’re now close on a few’

And whether a new bid had been made for Todibo.

The response was telling of the reality of the situation. But gives hope that deals are indeed edging ever close.

“Nothing is agreed,” the West Ham spokesman told Hammers News.

“But we’re now close on a few.”

Sky Sports and certain French and German sources are the outlets who tend to exaggerate how close deals are during the transfer window.

That has a knock-on effect on clubs because if those deals do not transpire they are reported as ‘collapses’ when in fact there was never a deal in place to fall through in the first place.

It sounds like today could be make or break for several deals and perhaps even West Ham’s window.
