West Ham willing to pay off outcast Arthur Masuaku's £40k-pw contract to ship him out of the club claims insider

West Ham United are willing to pay off outcast Arthur Masuaku’s £40k-pw contract to ship him out of the club this summer.

That’s according to claims from an insider speaking to the website Claret and Hugh.

It has been clear for some time that Masuaku has no future at West Ham.

STRANGEST Contracts In Football | Anti-Arsenal And Nightclub Clause?!

Masuaku rarely played last season and when he did – bar one or two performances, notably his freak goal against Chelsea – he failed to impress.

Masuaku was signed from Olympiacos for around £6m in 2016 and as a result is one of the club’s longest serving current players.

It was something of a surprise in 2019 when Masuaku saw his contract extended to 2024 – with the option of a further TWO YEARS.

But David Moyes want to sell him this summer and if he can’t it seems the club will take drastic measures.

West Ham are willing to pay off outcast Masuaku’s £40k-pw contract to ship him out of the club if no sale is forthcoming claims the insider speaking to Claret and Hugh.

There has been reported interest from newly-promoted London rivals Fulham. Cottagers boss Marco Silva managed Masuaku at Olympiacos previously.

“We understand that even should there be no offer from anywhere, the Hammers will attempt to come to a mutual agreement on a contract which runs out in 2024,” an insider told Claret and Hugh.

“He will have been at the club for eight years should he remain and with David Moyes determined to overhaul the team he is determined to make room on the wage bill of players who are way down the pecking order.”

West Ham have taken similar action with other players who have clearly had no future at the club in the past.

Jack Wilshere being the most recent example.

The Hammers will likely try to find a middle ground with Masuaku – perhaps paying off one year of his salary to facilitate the termination of his contract – thus making him a free agent.

Spotrac lists Masuaku’s West Ham wages at £40-pw.

One year’s wages would amount to just over £1.9m.

It would be pointless the Hammers paying up the final TWO years as they stand to gain nothing from such a deal when Masuaku could just be kept as a squad player for the same outlay.

West Ham have also been crying out for a new left-back for several years.

And Moyes showed Masuaku is not in his plans by electing to play right-backs ahead of him when without Aaron Cresswell for several big games this season.

Defensively Masuaku simply cannot be trusted. And with his pace and skill, the DR Congo international should really offer more going forward than he does.

It seems he will be leaving this summer regardless of whether West Ham can find any takers.
