West Ham will reportedly listen to offers for 25-year-old this summer

West Ham United will reportedly listen to offers for Issa Diop when the summer transfer window opens.

That’s according to a report from The Evening Standard who claim that David Moyes is ready to sacrifice one central defender in order to make room for the arrival of a top-class centre-back this summer.

After arriving at the London Stadium in the summer of 2018 for around £25 million (The Express), Diop was one of the very best central defenders in the Premier League during his debut season.

The 25-year-old, who earns around £63k-a-week according to Football League FC, experienced a poor 2020/21 campaign though and has been nowhere near his best during the first seven months of this season.

The Hammers ace did redeem himself somewhat with his superb performance against Lyon. That could all be in vain though, with Diop now out injured with an Achilles problem. And he might actually not play for the club again…

The Evening Standard suggest that Moyes is keen to bring Nottingham Forest defender Joe Worral to the London Stadium this summer.

And in order to make room for Worrall, West Ham are ready to move Diop on.

The Hammers could sell Diop for just £13 million this summer according to a report from Foot Mercato.

The 25-year-old defender is a top-class player on his day. He was described as an ‘excellent’ defender in 2020 by Football.London. The problem is that we just haven’t seen those days on a consistent enough basis.

Diop has been so poor for West Ham in general over the past 18 months that selling him would probably be the right call at the moment.

Whether any club will be willing to pay £13 million for the centre-back remains to be seen.

However, with West Ham ready to listen to offers for Diop, we think that he could be sold for even less than that amount.
