West Ham will not be ‘missing out’ on Man City star Kalvin Phillips in the January transfer window after links.
Even Pep Guardiola has publicly admitted longstanding West Ham target Kalvin Phillips will be leaving Manchester City next month.
West Ham boss David Moyes has held an interest in Phillips stretching way back to the January 2022 window when he was still at Leeds.
The Hammers made a £50m bid for Phillips back then which was rejected by Leeds, who went on to sell him for £5m less to Man City in the summer – as confirmed by Moyes himself.
After a dismal first season at the Etihad on a personal note, West Ham were again linked with signing Phillips from Man City in the summer. There was even talk he could be a makeweight in Man City’s doomed move to sign Lucas Paqueta.

And reports have abound of late that West Ham will try again when the winter window opens in less than two weeks.
Speculation has also been rife from the likes of GIVEMESPORT and West Ham Zone that the Hammers face ‘missing out’ to Newcastle in the “race” for Phillips.
Then reports emerged Juventus were also in for the Manchester City outcast, further hurting West Ham’s hopes.
But West Ham will not be ‘missing out’ on Man City star Phillips in January.
Because, quite simply, the club were not and are not interested in signing him since his move to the Etihad.
Yes Moyes wanted Phillips when he was at Leeds.
And while the manager may still admire Phillips, a top West Ham source has denied any interest in the 28-year-old, pointing out that the club is going in a different direction with Tim Steidten heading up transfers.
Hammers not interested in Man City outcast
It was also made clear to us that West Ham have much more pressing priorities in other positions.
One of those is the attacking left-sided role following Moyes’ admission that he is playing Paqueta out of position there and is looking to strengthen.
Others are at full-back on both sides. And if a striker is available the club may look at that too should West Ham be successful in moving fringe players out.
And Phillips would only find himself on the bench at West Ham just as he does at Manchester City. Because he would not get into the side ahead of Edson Alvarez while James Ward-Prowse brings much more to the table as does Tomas Soucek in terms of a goal threat.
West Ham can’t “miss out” on a player they aren’t in for.
