West Ham will lodge Joe Worrall bid if Nottingham Forest lose in Championship play-off final

West Ham United will lodge a bid for Joe Worrall if Nottingham Forest fail to gain promotion to the Premier League.

That’s according to a report from the Evening Standard who claim that Hammers boss David Moyes is keen to add at least one centre-back to his ranks at the London Stadium before the start of next season.

Issa Diop has regressed badly over the past 12-18 months whilst Angelo Ogbonna and Craig Dawson are 34 and 32 respectively.

Ogbonna missed three quarters of this season with an ACL injury whilst Kurt Zouma and Diop spent plenty of time on the sidelines as well. At one point, Craig Dawson was our only fit senior centre-back.

Moyes will be desperate to avoid a similar situation next season. The Scot is apparently very keen to bring in a top-class defender in the summer transfer window…

West Ham ready to make Worrall bid

Nottingham Forest take on Huddersfield Town in the Championship play-off final at Wembley on Sunday.

And should Forest get beaten, the Hammers will be waiting in the wings with a bid for the 25-year-old centre-back according to a report from the Evening Standard.

We think that the towering central defender would be a superb signing for West Ham.

And according to a report from The Sun, he could be available for around £12-15 million.

In 40 Championship appearances for Forest this season, Worrall has averaged 1.9 tackles, two interceptions, 3.1 clearances and one block per game. He has also won an average of 2.4 aerial duels per match during those outings (Who Scored).

His passing out from the back isn’t exactly the best but it’s far from poor either. Worrall has made 55.1 passes on average per game this season and has recorded a completion rate of 77% (Who Scored).

The 25-year-old is well known for being an aerially dominant and a tough tackling central defender.

Worrall stands at 6ft 4in tall and is a real warrior. He is exactly the kind of defender Moyes should be looking to sign. He is a composed defender, extremely mature for his age and is already a real leader for Forest.

£15 million for the central defender would be very good business for West Ham.

And should Nottingham Forest miss out on promotion this weekend, it would be no surprise to see West Ham move in quickly with a bid for Joe Worrall.
