West Ham United v Manchester City - Premier League

West Ham 'very attracted' by idea of signing 28-year-old striker on a free transfer

West Ham will look to sign Torino striker Andrea Belotti on a free transfer if we are priced out of a move for Gianluca Scamacca.

That’s according to a report from The Sun who claim that Belotti’s availability on a free is proving to be appealing to the Hammers.

It is painfully obvious for everyone to see that West Ham manager David Moyes needs to bring at least one top-class, proper centre-forward to the London Stadium in the summer transfer window.

Michail Antonio is currently the Scot’s only option through the middle and he has been since January 2021.

It’s actually farcical when you think about it but what matters now is addressing that issue in the summer.

And it seems as though Moyes is already laying down plans to do exactly that…

West Ham eyeing striker on a free transfer

The Sun claims that interest from Newcastle in Gianluca Scamacca could see the Hammers look elsewhere.

And Torino striker Andrea Belotti is thought to be on West Ham’s radar because of his availability on a free transfer and his leadership and experience.

Scamacca would be a sensational signing for the Hammers.

If we are unable to do a deal for the 23-year-old though, Belotti wouldn’t be a bad alternative for us.

West Ham signing Belotti on a free transfer seems like an absolute no-brainer this summer, as long as he isn’t our only centre-forward addition of course.

The Torino striker has a proven track record of scoring goals at the very highest level for a sustained period of time.

The 41-capped Italy international has bagged 158 goals in 390 career games at club level (Transfermarkt).

Belotti is an incredibly hard-working forward. He possesses superb movement and is always a real handful for opposing defenders. The Torino ace certainly knows where the back of the net is as well.

We’d take West Ham signing the 28-year-old striker on a free transfer this summer all day long. As mentioned earlier though, it will be vital for Moyes to bring another striker with huge potential to the club as well.
