The Hammers want to sign the 19-year-old this month according to a report from the Daily Record.
David Moyes is keen to bolster his central midfield ranks at the London Stadium.
And Independiente del Valle ace Moises Caicedo could be available for around €6 million (£5.5 million) in January according to the Daily Record.
It seems as though Everton boss Carlo Ancelotti has stolen a march on West Ham, however.

West Ham must act now if they want to beat Everton to Moises Caicedo
The Hammers will now have to act if they want to sign the talented youngster, with the Toffees having allegedly made their move.
The 19-year-old has racked up six goals and two assists in 30 games for Independiente del Valle (Transfermarkt).

Caicedo is most comfortable when playing in the holding central midfield role. He has also flourished in the box-to-box role, however.
The teenager is highly energetic and is an aggressive presser according to the Daily Record. So he would suit David Moyes’s system at West Ham perfectly.
It is clear that West Ham will have to redouble their efforts if they are to sign Moises Caicedo, however.
Everton are a top club with exciting ambition. In Carlo Ancelotti, the Toffees have a manger with a huge reputation at the helm. And because of that, the Hammers’ task may well be an impossible one.
