According to a report from the Star, West Ham have held talks with the agent of Manchester United play-maker Jesse Lingard.

The Hammers have been heavily linked with a move to sign the 28-year-old since May (90 Min).

Jesse Lingard has really struggled for the Red Devils over the past year or so. And it seems as though he could walk away from Old Trafford on a free transfer in the summer, with his contract set to expire in just six months time.

Manchester United could trigger a 12-month extension option on the midfielder’s contract but Ole Gunnar Solskjaer won’t stand in his way if he wants to leave the club this month (Star).

West Ham have already opened talks with the 24-capped England international’s agent according to a report from the Star.

A move to sign Lingard would split the Hammers fanbase.

Jesse Lingard a good signing for West Ham?

On one hand, he is an ageing player who seems to have garnered more headlines off the pitch than he has done on it recently.

On the other hand, however, the Manchester United ace is a proven performer who on his day can be a real difference maker.

If the Man United ace knuckled down and focused on his football again, he could be a magnificent addition for West Ham.

The 28-year-old has the kind of creativity, guile and craft that the Hammers sometimes lack in the middle of the park.

And if West Ham can pick Jesse Lingard up for a bargain fee this month, David Moyes should not hesitate to bring him to the London Stadium.
