West Ham United are interested in signing Benfica ace Pizzi according to a report from well-informed football journalist Pedro Almeida.

Hammers boss David Moyes is expected to be a busy man in the transfer market this summer.

The Scot should be looking to sign at east one established striker, an ergetic central midfielder and a left-back/left wing-back.

It could be argued that we need to sign a centre-back as well with Fabian Balbuena facing an uncertain future at West Ham.

West Ham after Pizzi?

One area where we are fairly well stocked, however, is attacking midfield. Especially if we sign Jesse Lingard on a permanent deal in the summer.

In spite of that, football journalist Pedro Almeida has claimed that West Ham are chasing Benfica ace Pizzi:

Now, Almeida has a history of being bang on the money, usually with transfers involving Portuguese and Brazilian sides.

So the fact that his claim involves a Portuguese club means that we should keep a close eye on this one.

Pizzi, 31, is allegedly unhappy at Benfica.

He has actually been in good form this season, with 13 goals and three assists in 40 games for Benfica to his name (Transfermarkt).

The 17-capped Portugal international is a gifted technician. His playing style is very pleasing on the eye.

It must be said that we quite simply don’t need another player of that ilk, however. West Ham boss David Moyes has far more pressing issues that need to be addressed.

At 31, Pizzi doesn’t fit into the age profile of players Moyes should be looking to sign either.

There may well be some legs in this sone. We just can’t see it happening, however.
