West Ham United are allegedly keen to sign Strasbourg defender Gerzino Nyamsi in the summer transfer window.

That’s according to a report from Goal who claim that the Hammers could face competition from Leeds and Newcastle for the 25-year-old centre-back’s signature this summer.

David Moyes has already strengthened his centre-back ranks at the London Stadium considerably with Nayef Aguerd having agreed a move to join West Ham.

It appears as though Moyes is intent on bolstering his central defensive department further still, however.

And it’s little wonder why.

Angelo Ogbonna and Craig Dawson are 34 and 32 respectively now and the former spent the majority of last season out with an ACL injury.

In addition to that, Issa Diop is facing an uncertain future at the London Stadium (Claret and Hugh). So it really would make sense for Moyes to sign another centre-back this summer…

West Ham want to sign Gerzino Nyamsi

Goal reckon that the Hammers are ready to battle Leeds and Newcastle for the 25-year-old’s signature in the summer transfer window.

We think that the 25-year-old Strasbourg centre-back would be a good addition for West Ham.

Standing at 6ft 5in tall, Nyamsi cuts a really imposing figure.

In 34 Ligue 1 appearances for Strasbourg last season, the Frenchman averaged one tackle, 0.7 interceptions and 2.5 clearances per game. He also won an average of 2.6 aerial duels per match (Who Scored).

He made 42.7 passes on average per game and recorded a completion rate of 83.5% (Who Scored).

Nyamsi is a physically imposing central defender who is strong in the challenge and quick along the ground.

At 25, he’s at a great age to move to the Premier League from Ligue 1. Quite how much money Strasbourg will demand for the French defender remains to be seen.

But if West Ham can pick up Gerzino Nyamsi for a reasonable fee, David Moyes bringing him to the London Stadium this summer is surely somewhat of a no-brainer.
