West Ham United boss David Moyes could be interested in signing Aston Villa midfielder John McGinn this summer according to ExWHUemployee.
In other news…Report: Premier League giants are open to offering 25-year-old international to West Ham
The Hammers manager will be desperate to bolster his central midfield ranks at the London Stadium in the summer.
Declan Rice and Tomas Soucek have forged a magnificent partnership in the middle of the park.
West Ham have scant options in reserve, however. Moyes does have Mark Noble to call upon but the Hammers skipper will be playing his final season for the club next term.
West Ham eyeing Aston Villa ace John McGinn?
ExWHUemployee claimed that the 26-year-old Villans star could be on the Hammers radar ahead of the summer transfer window, when speaking on the West Ham Way podcast last night (April 12th):
“Players who Moyes is interested in when he was at the club before…McGinn of Aston Villa. We haven’t made any offers for them. Moyes liked him before and Moyes still likes him. There are realistic expectations that we could go for him.”
McGinn joined Aston Villa from Hibernian in the summer of 2018 for around £3.5 million (Daily Mail).
The 32-capped Scotland international has gone on to rack up 11 goals and 19 assists in 103 games for the Villans (Transfermarkt).
McGinn is a technically gifted and hard working central midfielder. He would be a great addition for the Hammers.
It is highly doubtful that Dean Smith will be open to the idea of the Scot leaving Villa Park in the summer, however.
Who knows though. If West Ham finish fourth and make a reasonable offer to Villa, they might just decide to cash in on the former Hibs ace.
