West Ham target Gleison Bremer has suffered an ankle injury during pre-season training according to a report from Calciomercato.
The Hammers are keen to sign the Torino centre-back this summer according to a recent report from Toro News.
Central defence is one of the areas at the London Stadium where David Moyes is desperate to strengthen this summer.
Fabian Balbuena has been released whilst Angelo Ogbonna and Craig Dawson are now 33 and 31 respectively.
Torino ace Gleison Bremer would actually be a superb addition for West Ham.
A spanner has been thrown into the works, however…
West Ham target Bremer suffers ankle injury
That’s according to Calciomercato. It is unclear as to the severity of the injury but it is definitely bad enough to keep him away from first-team training.
The 24-year-old is valued at less than £10 million according to the Mirror. That would be outstanding value for the Hammers.
In 33 outings for Torino last season, the 6ft 2in centre-back averaged 1.5 tackles, 2.1 interceptions, 4.3 clearances and 0.6 blocks per game. He also won an average of 2.9 aerial duals per match (Who Scored).
Bremer is very comfortable with the ball at his feet as well. In 33 league games, the Torino defender averaged 50.2 passes per match with a very impressive completion rate of 82.7% (Who Scored).
The Brazilian centre-back would have been the ideal summer signing for West Ham.
It seems as though Moyes’s plan could now be scuppered because of Bremer’s ankle injury, however.
And that would be a real shame.
