New West Ham United signing Jett Murphy has reiterated that he is ‘so pleased’ to have signed professional terms with his boyhood club after leaving Chelmsford City.
Last week, West Ham announced the signing of a non-league sensation.
Still only 18 years of age, Jett Murphy more than made his mark with an impressive seven goals in 25 National League South appearances. The teenager’s sharp finishing and wily movement caught the eye of West Ham United, who secured his signature on a two-year deal.

Now, in a message posted on his official Instagram account on Thursday afternoon, Murphy uploaded a handful of pictures posing with his new claret and blue jersey.
Well, new enough.
Murphy appeared to be holding last season’s kit, on a day when Jarrod Bowen modelled the 2026/27 home shirt for the very first time. The collar – a chequered design replacing the hoops of last term – is a dead giveaway.
Jett Murphy is ‘so pleased’ to join West Ham United from Chelmsford City

As a lifelong bubble-blower and claret and blue fanatic, Murphy is counting down the days until pre-season kicks off.
“So pleased to have signed my professional contract for my boyhood club, West Ham,” he said, posting on social media for the first time since his move to East London was confirmed.
Murphy is expected to be part of Greg Lincoln’s Under-21 side, having already racked up more senior appearances than most at this level.
“It’s been a lifetime dream of mine and my family’s too, as we’re all West Ham fans,” Murphy told the official website back in June; a talent named ‘Jett’ appropriately aiming for the stars.
“I’ve supported the Club since I was born, so it feels like a full-circle moment. It’s unbelievable and I still can’t get over the fact it’s happened!

It's certainly bold…
“There have been a lot of players who have broken from the Academy into the first team, which is something I hope I can do. The Academy produces a lot of good players, and hopefully that’ll continue this season.”
“I’m a very hard-working and tenacious player, and I like to make runs in behind. I’m hoping to score as many goals as I can for the U21s and see where that takes me.”
Academy Manager Kenny Brown describes Murphy as a ‘natural goalscorer’ with a ‘great work ethic’. The type of goals he tended to score for Chelmsford – usually close-range tap-ins – certainly highlight his tendency to be in the right place at the right time’
