West Ham should give Felipe Anderson one more chance to shine next season.

The alternative doesn’t make much sense.

The 28-year-old Hammers winger has just 12 months remaining on his current deal at the London Stadium.

Due to his poor recent form, we would be lucky to get anything more than £5 million for Anderson in the summer.

It just makes sense to give Felipe one more chance.

The Brazilian winger could thrive under David Moyes.

West Ham have evolved into a side that plays on the counter attack, hitting teams hard and fast inside the first 30 minutes or so. Felipe, what with his blistering pace, is perfect for that particular system.

Now, Anderson would obviously have to work hard to succeed under Moyes.

That should be a prerequisite for a Premier League footballer though.

The 28-year-old certainly has a lot of talent. We know that because of what he produced during his first 18 months in East London.

West Ham need to be smart with Felipe Anderson

Nobody can deny how poor Anderson has been since the midway point of the 2019/20 campaign. But form is temporary. Class is permanent.

The Hammers signed the fleet-footed attacker for around £33.5 million in the summer of 2018 (Goal).

He racked up 10 goals and five assists during his debut campaign in the Premier League so we know that he’s more than good enough to produce the goods in England.

Anderson could provide strong competition for the likes of Said Benrahma, Pablo Fornals, Jarrod Bowen and Jesse Lingard next season, if we manage to sign him permanently from Manchester United.

The Brazilian is the kind of player who needs an arm around him. He needs to be loved and told just how good he is.

Moyes has admitted numerous times before that he loves the challenge of getting the best out of underperforming stars.

Anderson is the prime candidate for the Scot’s next project.

If it doesn’t work out then we will lose him on a free at the end of next season. So there is undoubtedly some risk involved.

The fact that West Ham would not receive much for Anderson’s services this summer reduces that risk, however.

Let’s give him one more crack at the whip. It might just end up being a Moyes masterclass!
