David Moyes delivered his verdict on Said Benrahma after West Ham United drew 1-1 with Brighton last night.
The Algerian got off the mark for the Hammers with a brilliantly taken goal that earned us what could be a vital point come the end of the season.
He made a slow start to life at the London Stadium.
David Moyes has highlighted continually how Benrahma needs to improve upon his decision making in the final third.
The 25-year-old seems to be slowly coming into his own, however.
Every time he has the ball he makes something happen for West Ham.
David Moyes delivers Said Benrahma verdict
The former Brentford ace came on as a 64th minute substitute against Brighton last night.
And he didn’t disappoint. Benny fired home late on from 20 yards to earn the Hammers a point against the Seagulls.
David Moyes responded when asked by reporters whether that was what Benrahma has been waiting for and suggested that he is hoping that there is more to come from the talented winger, as quoted by Football.London:
“Yes, and so have we. We have been waiting on a goal and we got one tonight. We brought him in with that in mind and I am glad he has got that first goal and hopefully he will go on and get a lot more.”
We will surely now see the best of Benrahma.
Moyes absolutely must give him regular game-time now, however, and allow him the chance to gain confidence along the way.
The 25-year-old is the kind of player who flourishes when given a free reign to work his magic.
It’s time for Benny to be let off the leash. Let’s hope that he adds to his tally before the campaign is over.
And next season may well be his time to shine.
