West Ham rocked as report claims Mikel Arteta is keen to bring Ivan Toney to Arsenal

Arsenal want to sign Brentford hitman Ivan Toney this summer according to Football.London. And that is a huge blow to West Ham United’s chances of signing the 24-year-old.

In other news…Report: Moyes not convinced 27-year-old has work ethic needed to succeed at West Ham

Eurosport recently claimed that Hammers boss David Moyes is very keen to bring the prolific 24-year-old striker to the London Stadium this summer.

West Ham desperately need to sign a new centre-forward.

We currently have Michail Antonio as our only recognised senior striker at the club.

And that really isn’t good enough considering the fact that we have European aspirations.

David Moyes’s priority will be to address that particular issue in the summer.

And Brentford ace Ivan Toney would be a superb option for West Ham.

Arsenal have joined the race for the 24-year-old’s signature, however (Football.London).

Gunners boss Mikel Arteta allegedly wants to bring the pacy frontman to the Emirates.

So the Hammers now face a real battle to bring the Bees striker to east London.

Blow for West Ham as Arsenal enter Ivan Toney race

The 24-year-old has been in scintillating form for Brentford this season.

The pacy striker has racked up 26 goals and nine assists in 34 league games so far (Transfermarkt). He has unquestionably been the Championship’s standout player.

So missing out on Toney’s services to Arsenal would be a bitter pill to swallow for West Ham.

Brentford want around £30 million for the former Peterborough striker (Football.London).

That may well be too much money for West Ham to spend on one player. And Arsenal’s interest in Toney is just another inconvenience for the Hammers.

Hopefully the West Ham board are prepared to battle the Gunners all the way for the Brentford ace’s signature in the summer, however.

Toney is exactly the type of striker we need. And if the Hammers manage to finish above Arsenal in the league this season, perhaps we will have a better chance of singing him this summer.
