West Ham United’s hopes of signing Nicolo Zaniolo are dead in the water already as Arsenal reportedly move in to sign the Roma ace.

La Repubblica today claimed that Arsenal have made contact with Roma about signing the £35 million-rated attacking midfielder.

That’s obviously bad news for West Ham, with David Moyes allegedly keen to bring the 23-year-old Italy international to the London Stadium in the January transfer window.

With Gunners boss Mikel Arteta on the hunt for Zaniolo, the Hammers’ hopes of signing the Roma star are undoubtedly dead in the water already…

Arsenal trying to sign West Ham target Nicolo Zaniolo

La Repubblica claim that Arteta is very keen indeed to bring the Italian to the Emirates this month.

And if Arsenal are genuinely trying to sign Zaniolo, West Ham will obviously have no chance of bringing him to East London.

That’s a real shame, because the Roma star is a sensational attacking midfielder.

He has been described as ‘simply unplayable’ by Scouted Football, and is a truly elite talent.

The 6ft 3in attacking midfielder has bagged 52 goals 30 assists in 214 career appearances. He has technical ability in abundance and with his imposing physique, he seems to be ideally suited to the Premier League.

£35 million will undoubtedly end up looking like an absolute bargain for the Italy international.

West Ham clearly should have moved for the Roma ace a lot sooner.

Because now it seems as though Arsenal could well sign Nicolo Zaniolo in the January transfer window.
