West Ham are still in the race to sign Bologna ace Takehiro Tomiyasu according to a report from La Gazzetta dello Sport.

That’s in spite of the fact that the Hammers have just completed a deal to sign Kurt Zouma from Chelsea.

West Ham have made a fine start to their 2021/22 Premier League campaign. One glaringly obvious weak link has been our defending, however.

And David Moyes is clearly desperate to address that particular issue. The Scot has brought Zouma to the London Stadium. He could be on the look-out for further defensive reinforcements, however.

La Gazzetta dello Sport reckon that the Hammers could still challenge Tottenham for the signing of the capped 23-capped Japan international.

The Sun claims that Tomiyasu could be available for around £15 million this summer.

We have to say that the 22-year-old would be a very good addition for West Ham.

Tomiyasu is very versatile, and can operate at centre-back or even in the deep-lying midfield position.

But surely Moyes should be focusing his attention elsewhere now that he has signed Zouma?

West Ham desperately need another centre-forward and an attacking midfielder before deadline day. Signing two players in those positions should be Moyes’s priorities between now and Tuesday.
