Hammers boss David Moyes desperately needs to sign a new striker before the transfer window slams shut.

Yesterday’s 2-2 draw with Crystal Palace laid bare West Ham’s lack of squad depth.

If the Hammers are to challenge for a top six spot again this season Moyes needs to add some players to his squad who can change a game from the bench.

Laborde has option to join West Ham

With a deal for Kurt Zouma now done, signing a new centre-forward will be crucial to our hopes of success this season. And it seems as though Montpellier ace Gaetan Laborde could be an option for us.

L’Equipe claims that the French striker has the chance to move to the London Stadium this summer.

The 27-year-old would be a very smart addition for the Hammers this season. He possesses very similar attributes to Michail Antonio.

The Frenchman would be the ideal signing for David Moyes considering our budget.

Laborde is a hard-working striker. He’s far from prolific although he did bag 18 goals and nine assists in 43 games for Montpellier last season (Transfermarkt).

He has plenty of pace and power and the experienced Montpellier forward can play anywhere along the front-line.

Montpellier are allegedly asking for €20 million (£17.2 million) for the French striker (France Bleu).

£17 million odd for Laborde would be an absolute steal for West Ham. Let’s hope we can get this one over the line before the transfer window closes.
