The 28-year-old was a real hit with the Hammers last season during a four-month loan spell.

Claret and Hugh claimed two days ago that David Moyes is till keen to bring Jesse to the London Stadium before the transfer window closes.

And here we are on transfer deadline day.

Numerous reports claimed earlier today that it is unlikely that West Ham will sign Lingard before tonight’s 11pm deadline.

It seems as though there is still a chance, however.

West Ham still in with a chance of signing Lingard?

Sky Sports claims that should Manchester United relieve an offer from West Ham late on in the window, they will discuss it with the 28-year-old and a collective decision will be made.

Considering the money that the Hammers have splashed out already, signing Jesse on a permanent deal seems unlikely to say the least.

A loan with an obligation to buy next summer would make sense, but only if Man United tie Lingard down to a new one-year deal. He will be out of contract next summer otherwise.

Bringing the 28-year-old back to East London would be a masterstroke by GSB. The West Ham fans love him and the feeling is clearly mutual.

It could happen. Sky Sports reckon there is still a chance, albeit a slim one.
