West Ham United are allegedly now lining up a move to sign Bayer Leverkusen centre-back Odilon Kossounou.
That’s according to a report from The Sun’s Alan Nixon, via his Patreon.
Nixon claims that the Hammers are shocked that the 21-year-old defender is available this summer and David Moyes is very keen to bring him to the London Stadium.
Kossounou only joined Leverkusen last summer in a £25 million deal from Club Brugge (Forbes).
And with Moyes on the hunt for a new centre-back, the Leverkusen ace’s availability means that the Scot could divert his attention to the Bundesliga this summer…
West Ham eye bold Odilon Kossounou swoop
The Sun’s Alan Nixon (via his Patreon) has claimed that the Hammers want to sign the 15-capped Ivory Coast international this summer.
We could face competition from the likes of Fulham and Leicester City for his signature though.
The 21-year-old would be a truly brilliant signing for West Ham. Not only is he an excellent centre-back but he can also operate at right-back and defensive midfield if need be.
In 27 Bundesliga appearances for Leverkusen last season, Kossounou averaged one tackle, one interception and 2.2 clearances per game (Who Scored).
During those outings, he made 40.3 passes per match and recorded an impressive completion rate of 82.4% (Who Scored).
Football Talent Scout describe the Ivorian as a ‘crazy talent’.
Standing at 6ft 3in tall, the Leverkusen ace possesses an imposing physique and has all of the physical attributes needed to succeed in the Premier League.
We would absolutely love to see West Ham sign Odilon Kossounou this summer.
Quite how much money Leverkusen will demand for the 21-year-old remains to be seen though…
