West Ham failed to sign Porto ace Zaidu Sanusi on deadline day as they were unwilling to make a significant investment on the left-back according to a report from O Jogo (print edition, September 1st).

Hammers boss David Moyes needs to bring a new left-back to the London Stadium soon.
So perhaps the Scot will revisit a move for Sanusi in January.
If West Ham have the money to sign the 24-year-old, bringing him to the club is an absolute non-brainer.

According to Own Goal Nigeria, the Nigeria international could be picked up for around €20 million (£17.2m) this summer.
West Ham decided against Sanusi swoop
Having splashed out on Kurt Zouma and Nikola Vlasic, as well as paying loan fees for Alphonse Areola and Alex Kral, the Hammers decided not to pursue a move for the Porto left-back according to a report from O Jogo (print edition, September 1st).
And that’s a real shame.
Sanusi would have been a very smart addition for West Ham.
In 25 league appearances for Porto last season, the 24-year-old averaged 1.9 tackles, 1.3 interceptions and one clearance per game (Who Scored).

The Nigerian is incredibly athletic, has bundles of pace and is just as much of an asset in the final third as he is in defence.
If he enjoys a good few months between now and January, it will be no surprise to see West Ham go back in for him.

£17 million is fantastic value for a player with Sanusi’s quality and he is certainly someone who would improve the Hammers’ left-back department.
