Mipo Odubeko joined Huddersfield on a season-long loan from West Ham yesterday.

And the loan move is exactly what the 18-year-old striker needed.

Sending Mipo out on loan to Championship side Huddersfield may well end up being one of the best pieces of business the Hammers did this summer.

David Moyes has done some wonderful business since he returned to the London Stadium for the second time as manager back in December 2019.

The Scot has brought in the likes of Vladimir Coufal, Jarrod Bowen, Tomas Soucek, Nikola Vlasic, Kurt Zouma and Alex Kral.

The outgoing of one young player in particular caught our eye yesterday, however.

Mipo Odubeko joining Huddersfield on loan the perfect move

The young striker has so much talent. His finishing and movement really is second to none for a player of his age.

Mipo has racked up 26 goals in 22 games for West Ham’s youth teams since moving to the London Stadium at the end of 2019 (Transfermarkt).

It must be said though, the teenager looked like a fish out of water when playing for the Hammers’ senior side. In fairness, he only played 58 minutes over the course of two games.

It was obvious to see just how rough around the edges he looked, however.

Mipo just needs regular action in the Championship. He needs to come up against seasoned, grizzly defenders. They will make a man out of him. And the physicality that he will have to deal with will undoubtedly encourage him to work hard on improving his physique.

This move to Huddersfield really could be the making of the young striker.

Hopefully Mipo returns a much better all-round player. And if he plays 30 games plus against real men this season, it will undoubtedly stand him in good stead for the future.
