West Ham reportedly have big advantage in race to sign striker from London rivals

West Ham have an advantage over Roma in the race to sign Fulham hitman Aleksandar Mitrovic according to a report from The Sun.

Hammers boss David Moyes has been linked with moves to sign every name under the sun after selling Sebastien Haller to Ajax in January.

The latest name mentioned as a potential target for West Ham was Aleksandar Mitrovic.

Football journalist Ekrem Konur claimed last week that Moyes is a big fan of the 64-capped Serbia international.

West Ham have big advantage in Aleksandar Mitrovic race

Jose Mourinho is allegedly a keen admirer of the striker and wants to bring him to Roma in the summer.

The Sun claims that the 26-year-old Fulham ace would favour a move to another London club, however, having settled well in the capital with his family.

That would be great news if we thought Mitrovic would be a good signing for the Hammers.

The Serbian has really struggled with Fulham in the Premier League, however. Her’s not mobile whatsoever.

Mirtovic plays as a target man type striker with most of his work being done in and around the penalty box.

Mitro not the man for Moysie

He is totally unsuitable to David Moyes’s system.

The Scot likes his centre-forward to run the channels in the same way that Michail Antonio does.

There is surely not much truth in the rumours about West Ham wanting Mitrovic.

If there is, however, David Moyes needs to take a step back and remember what has made the Hammers such a potent attacking force this season.

Power and pace are key attributes for centre-forwards these days. And unfortunately for Mitrovic, he’s just not the kind of striker West Ham need.
