West Ham United have reportedly just had a bid for Lorient striker Terem Moffi rejected by French club Lorient.

That’s according to L’Equipe who claim that the Hammers sent a proposal to the Ligue 1 side – one that was swiftly refused.

It has been claimed that Lorient’s £25 million valuation of Moffi is representing a big problem for West Ham, with minimal funds available to David Moyes at the London Stadium this winter.

Moyes desperately needs to bring a top-class centre-forward to the London Stadium in the January transfer window.

Gianluca Scamacca is crying out for more competition, with Michail Antonio having regressed badly over the past year. I believe that Moffi would be the ideal January signing for the Hammers, but it seems as though our chances of singing him this month are slim…

West Ham have bid for Moffi rejected

L’Equipe reckon that the Hammers have been knocked back in their approach for the Lorient forward.

Whether we will go back in with a fresh offer remains to be seen. In my opinion though, the decision is an easy one – West Ham should be going all out to sign the 23-year-old forward.

Described by Total Football Analysis as a ‘nuisance’ Moffi is exactly what we need at the London Stadium, and he would be the perfect foil for Gianluca Scamacca. Moffi would take West Ham’s attacking play to a whole new level entirely.

He is absolutely rapid and is strong as an ox. He is generally a nuisance for opposing defenders and would offer a completely different option to Gianluca Scamacca through the middle, what with his power and pace.

He’s been on fire in Ligue 1 this season, with 11 goals in 17 games for Lorient to his name (Transfermarkt).

With West Ham having had a bid rejected for Moffi though, it’s highly unlikely that the board will go back in with even more money for the Nigerian in the January window.

And that could be a decision that they live to regret in my opinion.
