West Ham now face more competition for Mikkel Damsgaard, this time from Everton according to a report from Calcio Mercato.
The Italian publication claims that the Toffees have thrown their hat into the ring in the last couple of hours.
Unfortunately for David Moyes, however, his fine performances for Denmark at EURO 2020 seems to have piqued the interest of numerous other clubs…one of them being Everton.
Calcio Mercato claims that Toffees boss Rafa Benitez now wants to bring the Sampdoria ace to Goodison Park this summer.
West Ham face problem with Everton the latest in for Damsgaard
The Hammers already had their work cut-out.
Liverpool (La Razon), Tottenham and AC Milan (Corriere dello Sport (print edition, June 24th, page 22) are all keen on the young Dane.
Everton now represent a further problem for the East London outfit.
The Merseyside outfit are a club with real ambition and their owners are far more likely than ours to pay the £25 million required to prise him away from Sampdoria (Gazzetta Sampdoriana).
West Ham will have to pull out all of the stops to sign the technically brilliant attacking midfielder.
Football Critic suggest that the 20-year-old has ‘uncanny ability’ and his playing style has been compared to Napoli and Belgium star Dries Mertens.
He is clearly a star in the making. And Damsgaard may well end up being the latest name to add to the list of world-class players who West Ham nearly signed.
What a shame.
