West Ham are lining up another move to sign New York Red Bulls skipper Aaron Long in the January transfer window.
And it appears as though the 29-capped United States international is back on West Ham’s radar, according to a report from TEAMtalk.
The thing is, West Ham have moved on as a club since then. In my opinion, David Moyes really should be targeting better players than Aaron Long.

And besides that, we are fairly well covered ion the centre-back department anyway. Nevertheless, it seems as though Moyes is interested in signing the American…
West Ham eyeing Aaron Long swoop
TEAMtalk reckon that the Hammers are battling Nottingham Forest for the experienced central defender’s signature.
West Ham actually had a £3.8 million bid for Long rejected in 2020.
The 29-capped United States international is vastly experienced, with 238 club appearances to his name. All of those have come in America, however, and that should be a real concern for the Hammers.
Long stands at 6ft 1in tall, so he isn’t the tallest of centre-backs. But he still is a very solid defender. According to Who Scored, Long won an average of 4.7 aerial dual in 25 MLS outings for New York Red Bulls last season.

The 30-year-old also made an average of 1.1 tackles, 1.3 interceptions, 0.8 blocks and an amazing 5.3 clearances per game in 25 league appearances last term (Who Scored).
One thing that might be attracting Moyes to Long is the fact that he will be available on a free transfer in January, with his current contract with NY Red Bulls set to expire at the end of December.
Much will depend on whether or not Craig Dawson moves on to pastures new in January.
I really think that West Ham should be aiming a lot higher than Aaron Long though, if we do indeed harbour ambitions of kicking on to the next level.
