West Ham have put the transfer wheels in motion for a Michail Antonio replacement as report makes Vangelis Pavlidis scouting mission claim.

West Ham have finally woken up to the fact a bona fide top drawer striker is needed to replace Michail Antonio.

The Hammers history maker has been an amazing servant for the club over the last nine years.

But his performance against Aston Villa has seen many West Ham fans criticise the club for failing to sign a striker in the summer. Especially after selling Gianluca Scamacca.

According to 90min, West Ham had scouts watching Dutch side AZ Alkmaar – who we vanquished in the Europa Conference League semi-final at the end of last season – over the weekend.

And the big Greek forward certainly impressed – bagging a hat-trick in a 3-0 win over Heerenveen.

‘Both could depart next year’

The goals took Konstantinos Mavropanos’ international teammate level with Feyenoord’s Santiago Gimenez on 13 goals at the top of the Eredivisie scoring charts.

90min understands that West Ham have been monitoring Pavlidis’ impressive performances this season, with Brentford also keeping tabs on him,” 90min claims.

“Technical director Tim Steidten is looking to bolster a strike force that is currently relying on Michail Antonio and Danny Ings – both of whom could depart the club next year.”

Get him to the Greek

Although West Ham beat Alkmaar to make it to the final in Prague, Pavlidis impressed against David Moyes’ side.

The claim may well have legs. Because the big, powerful and quick 24-year-old seems to have everything Moyes looks for in a striker.

The report also claims Moyes likes the fact Pavlidis can operate out wide on either flank.

Steidten is also known to be actively targeting the Dutch market for players – as evidenced by the signings of Edson Alvarez and Mohammed Kudus.
