Max Kilman is firmly on the West Ham United radar this summer, and we’re seemingly not taking no for an answer.
West Ham have been heavily linked with a move to sign towering Wolves centre-back Max Kilman all summer long.
The Hammers made an official bid for the 27-year-old centre-back at the end of last week – one that was rejected by Wolves.
In fact, he’s been on the West Ham radar for quite some time now, although his £90k-a-week wages are said to be a big obstacle to a potential move to West Ham.
Julen Lopetegui is clearly prioritising the signing of a top-class, Premier League proven central defender this summer.
Our porous defence conceded 74 Premier League goals last season – a tally worsened only by the three relegated clubs.
Lopetegui will not be able to oversee any kind of progress if he doesn’t address his side’s defensive issues before the start of the new season.
Kurt Zouma and Nayef Aguerd are either not robust enough or good enough to be relied upon at Premier League level anymore.
Lopetegui has a clear plan in mind to improve on those two players with a move for Kilman in the pipeline. And there has been some clear movement on a potential deal to bring him to East London it seems…

West Ham make second Max Kilman offer with a twist
Lopetegui is clearly desperate to bring the central defender to the London Stadium in the summer transfer window.
He was a brilliant performer for Wolves last season, and possesses all of the qualities that we currently lack in the heart of our defence.
According to Fabrizio Romano, West Ham have lodged a second bid for Kilman.
And the interesting part is that the Hammers are apparently prepared to send a player to Molineux as part of the deal.
Unfortunately for us, the offer has reportedly been rejected by Wolves:
Romano said, “West Ham are still pushing for Max Kilman, new proposal expected to be sent soon. Second proposal also included one player as part of the deal but Wolves rejected again. Julen Lopetegui wants Kilman, talks continue.”
According to Claret and Hugh, the Hammers are prepared to pay around £35 million for the 27-year-old Wolves centre-back.
Whether that includes one of our players heading to Molineux as part of the deal is unclear right now.
What is certain is that Max Kilman would be a superb addition for West Ham – he’s exactly what we need right now.
The Wolves ace is incredibly strong in the air, commands his back-line with authority and is a true warrior. Kilman is a proper leader as well, and is the current captain of Wolves.
In 37 Premier League appearances for Wolves last season, the 27-year-old averaged 1.3 tackles, one interception, 4.8 clearances and 2.6 successful aerial duels.
He made 60.3 passes per game and recorded a completion rate of 86% (Who Scored).
Max Kilman would be a huge upgrade on Kurt Zouma and Nayef Aguerd, and if West Ham manage to sign him for £35 million, he’d be a really good value for money signing for us.
