West Ham United are clearly extremely active in the January transfer window.

Nuno Espirito Santo has already brought two new strikers to West Ham in the January transfer window in the form of Taty Castellanos and Pablo Felipe.

However, the Hammers manager is far from done regarding his January window recruitment.

With at least two or three more new signings required, there will most likely need to be some exits as well, in order to help West Ham balance the books.

The difficulty for the Hammers is that there is simply so much deadwood that needs shifting.

It will be almost impossible to get rid of everyone who actually needs to leave in the January window.

However, it seems like one player in particular will almost certainly leave West Ham this month.

The Hammers are staring relegation squarely in the face right now.

It has to be said, perhaps West Ham need to be relegated to the Championship in order to rebuild from scratch.

One thing that dropping down a division would ensure is that all of the overrated mercenaries currently present at the London Stadium would be off in a flash.

And it seems like the club is already trying to move one of them on in January. The good news is that he is said to be keen to leave the club as well.

According to Friday’s edition of Gazzetta dello Sport, midfielder Guido Rodriguez is actively pushing to leave West Ham this month.

The Argentine has apparently asked for permission to leave in order to join Italian giants Juventus on loan.

Guido Rodriguez’s West Ham move was doomed from the start

It has been claimed that West Ham would prefer to sell Rodriguez, but perhaps a loan deal with some kind of option to buy is the best they can hope for this winter.

Imagine you are Nuno – What is the FIRST thing you are doing to save your job?

Nuno Espirito Santo, Manager of West Ham United, during the Premier League match between West Ham United and Nottingham Forest at London Stadium on January 06, 2026 in London, England.

As good as Rodriguez was for Real Betis, bringing a 30-year-old midfielder who lacked any kind of mobility or athleticism to the Premier League was a really questionable move from West Ham.

Now 31, Rodriguez has become even less mobile during his stint at the London Stadium.

It’s fair to say that the 30-capped Argentina international’s move to the Hammers was doomed from the start.

Now there is an end in sight, at least, for both Rodriguez and West Ham, with a January transfer window exit being heavily mooted for the South American midfielder.

The sooner Rodriguez leaves the London Stadium the better it will be for all parties involved.
