West Ham now want to sign ball-carrying midfield machine who’d totally transform us

West Ham United are well in the hunt for at least one more new signing before the transfer window closes.

Julen Lopetegui has approached the summer transfer window with real ruthlessness and efficiency – a refreshing change from the days of David Moyes.

However, it could be argued that the Hammers are still one or two signings away from having a complete squad.

The West Ham fans are buzzing with excitement about what the future holds for us, and Lopetegui has insisted that he’s after even more new signings.

The West Ham manager has a seriously talented group of players at his disposal now, but there is one gaping hole.

And Lopetegui is clearly desperate to address that before the window closes on Friday night.

West Ham want midfield machine Richard Rios

Palmeiras midfielder Richard Rios is someone who has been linked with West Ham already this summer.

And now, Colombian football journalist Pipe Sierra has claimed that the Hammers have lodged a £16.6 million bid for the 24-year-old.

Unfortunately for us, Palmeiras have apparently rejected that offer.

As good as the signings have been from Lopetegui this summer, the Spaniard still hasn’t added someone with real ball-carrying ability to his ranks.

We haven’t had that in our midfield since Declan Rice left to join Arsenal in the summer of 2023.

And in my opinion, Rios is the perfect man for that job.

West Ham should be going all out for Richard Rios

Rios is a sensational dribbler, and he possesses impeccably tight ball control.

Standing at 6ft 2in tall with energy, power, dynamism and athleticism in abundance, he can beat the opposition’s press with ease.

The Colombia international clearly possesses the physical attributes needed to succeed in the Premier League.

Richard Rios would be a very special signing for West Ham, and he would totally transform us as a team overnight.

However, Palmeiras clearly don’t want to sell the midfielder this summer, so the Hammers will have to look elsewhere.

I still think that Carlos Soler will join us before the window closes, and as good as he is, I feel like Rios is the man we really should be pursuing.
