West Ham United appear keen to add some experience to their squad this summer – and the departure of two long-serving Brighton and Hove Albion stalwarts in Solly March and Adam Webster will not have gone unnoticed at the London Stadium.

While the Hammers reportedly advance their pursuit of Middlesbrough’s Dael Fry, club insider ExWhuEmployee claims that another centre-back is under consideration.

A Graham Potter favourite, no less.

Dael Fry of Middlesbrough celebrates after scoring a goal to make it 1-0 during the Sky Bet Championship match between Middlesbrough and Millwall at Riverside Stadium on April 3, 2026 in Middlesbrough, England. West Ham held talks with Brighton over Adam Webster shortly after Potter took over from Julen Lopetegui at the start of 2025. Seventeen months later, Webster is leaving the Amex as a free-agent.

And, according to Ex, West Ham United may be tempted to overlook the injuries which have contributed heavily to Brighton’s decision to let go of a man who produced three impressive Championship campaigns with Bristol City and Ipswich before moving to the South Coast for £20 million in 2019.

Adam Webster and Solly March both linked with West Ham United

TEAMtalk, meanwhile, report that Solly March has been considered by the Hammers too.

Like Webster, March has endured a miserable time on the fitness front. Between them, the centre-back and the winger would play only 38 minutes of Premier League football last season, and all of those belonged to March.

While their Brighton careers ended on a rather depressing note, the glowing praise put forward by chairman Tony Bloom spoke volumes about the roles both Webster and March played in helping establish the Seagulls as one of the most prolific overachievers in European football.

“On behalf of everyone at the club, I would like to thank Solly, Adam and James [Milner, who recently announced his retirement] for their outstanding contributions,” Bloom told The Argus

“Solly can look back with immense pride on everything he has achieved here. He will always be held in the highest regard by everyone associated with the club.

“Adam has been a hugely important player for us over the past seven years and a key figure during a period in which the club has continued to progress and raise standards.”

March could replace Adama Traore at the London Stadium

Goodbye Traore and Fabianski! 👋

Both Jamie Carragher and Graham Potter hailed Webster as one of – if not the – best ball-playing centre-back in the Premier League during his Brighton peak.

March, also 31, appeared on the verge of an England call up after providing 14 goal contributions in 31 starts during the 2022/23 campaign.

His ability to play on either flank, plus his free-agent status, is likely to appeal to a West Ham side at risk of losing both Crysencio Summerville and Jarrod Bowen.

Adama Traore’s London Stadium exit was confirmed on Wednesday.
