Lucas Paqueta’s time at West Ham United has come to an end.
Indeed, while Paqueta’s move to Flamengo has not yet been officially confirmed, the Brazilian will be departing West Ham United halfway through a relegation battle.
Paqueta has pushed to leave West Ham, and the former Lyon star now has his wish.

A return to Flamengo awaits, despite the Hammers previously trying to keep him for the rest of the season at least.
While West Ham fans wanted Paqueta to leave, it’s still a concession on the club’s part.
Now, they have confirmed why.
West Ham tried to keep Lucas Paqueta but his stance changed their mind
Wednesday proved to be a busy day of transfer news for the Irons after West Ham confirmed the signing of Adama Traore.
A few hours later, the club released a statement on Paqueta’s future amid swirling reports that a deal with Flamengo had now been agreed.
As was posted on West Ham’s official website, the club confirmed that the fact that Paqueta remained adamant to leave despite them wanting to keep him at the club meant they reluctantly agreed to his departure.

A statement read: “Lucas has made it clear that, for personal and family reasons, he wishes to return home to Brazil and make a fresh start after being cleared in July 2025 of FA misconduct charges that took two years to be resolved – a situation that caused him significant mental strain.
“Despite the Club doing everything possible to persuade Lucas to stay, he has remained adamant that his wish is to leave. Therefore, the Head Coach and the Club have reluctantly agreed to accept his transfer request.
“West Ham United would like to take this opportunity to thank our management, players, staff and loyal supporters for the unwavering and devoted support they have shown to Lucas throughout his time at the Club and, in particular, over the past two and a half years.
“The Club will make no further comment at this time.”

Lucas Paqueta’s all-time record at West Ham United
Paqueta does leave with a small place in the club’s history books, given it was he who played the through ball for Jarrod Bowen to score in West Ham’s victorious Conference League final back in 2023.
Still, West Ham have proven they do not need Paqueta any more in recent weeks and his departure is surely the best for all parties right now.
In 139 appearances across all competitions after joining West Ham from Lyon, Paqueta scored 23 goals while registering 15 assists.
There were some brilliant moments from him, but they did not come often enough.
It’s an underwhelming end to his time at the club, which perhaps sums up his spell as a whole.
