West Ham have absolutely no chance of signing Moises Caicedo from Brighton in my opinion, after Chelsea had a mammoth bid rejected.

Chelsea have just lodged a €60 million (£52 million) bid for the 21-year-old Brighton midfielder according to a report from O Jogo.

And that means that the Ecuador international will be well out of West Ham’s league financially.

Hammers manager David Moyes allegedly wants to sign the Brighton star.

If Chelsea have had a £52 million bid rejected for him though, I just can’t see a way in which we will be able to sign him…

Chelsea have Moises Caicedo bid rejected

The Brighton star was subject to a mammoth bid from the Blues – one that Brighton quickly batted away.

The Seagulls may ask for around £80 million for the youngster (The Mirror).

Now, Chelsea will think nothing about paying that kind of cash. Meanwhile, there is no way that West Ham will be able to afford it.

That’s such a shame – Caicedo is a truly elite midfielder, and he would have been the perfect replacement for Declan Rice, when the 24-year-old eventually leaves the London Stadium.

Jamie Redknapp recently described the young midfielder as a ‘revelation’ (Sussex World). Meanwhile, 90 Min recently labelled the midfielder as ‘outstanding’, and they’re not wrong! What a player he is.

Caicedo has adapted so well to the robust and intense nature of Premier League football, which is quite remarkable considering the fact that he’s only 21.

He is a powerful and energetic central midfielder and had bagged two goals and three assists in 30 games for Brighton thus far (Transfermarkt).

Caicedo possesses stamina in abundance and has all of the attributes that West Ham need.

In 17 Premier League outings so far this season, the Ecuadorian ace has averaged 3.1 tackles, 1.4 interceptions and 0.6 clearances per match. He’s made 53.9 passes per game on average and has recorded a completion rate of 87.3% (Who Scored).

He is a quite simply superb player.

After Chelsea had a bid rejected for Moises Caicedo though, David Moyes may as well start looking at other targets.
