West Ham United are allegedly currently leading the race to sign Maxwel Cornet from Burnley in the summer transfer window.
That’s according to The Guardian’s Jacob Steinberg who claims that the Hammers still face competition from the likes of Everton and Newcastle for the 25-year-old’s signature.
And West Ham may well have a secret weapon that should help us get a deal for Cornet over the line this summer.
David Moyes desperately needs to sign a versatile left-sided player before the transfer window slams shut. And we believe that we have a great chance of bringing the Burnley ace to East London…
West Ham may have secret weapon in Cornet chase
The 25-year-old Burnley star is represented by David Sullivan’s old mate Will Salthouse.
Salthouse, and his Unique Sports Management company, have Michail Antonio, Aaron Cresswell, Craig Dawson and Darren Randolph currently amongst his stable of players.
So it’s clear to see how strongly connected West Ham and Salthouse are. Surely the well-renowned agent will help push the Ivorian towards the London Stadium this summer.
What a signing Cornet would be for the Hammers!
Cornet joined Burnley from Lyon in the summer of 2021 for around £13 million (BBC).
He has been a huge hit at Turf Moor, bagging nine goals and two assists in 29 games for the Clarets (Transfermarkt).
We believe that the Burnley speed demon would be a sensational signing for West Ham.
He’s one of the quickest forwards in the Premier League and can operate on either wing or at left-back.
Cornet can even play as a striker if need be!
The 29-capped Ivory Coast international is aggressive, direct and loves running at opposing defenders.
West Ham have struggled without any real pace in our team over the past year or so. Michail Antonio has definitely lost half a yard.
The Premier League is built on power and pace nowadays. The Burnley star has been described as an ‘explosive player’ by ESPN pundit Ale Moreno. Meanwhile, Last Word on Sports label Cornet as an ‘amazing’ dribbler.
And if West Ham manage to get a deal for Cornet over the line within the next few days, this summer transfer window will quickly become one of the best we’ve experienced as a club in recent memory.
