West Ham make rapid second offer for Piotr Zielinski which meets Napoli request but must now convince the player claims a new report.
Amidst a flurry of transfer speculation swirling around West Ham at the weekend came links to Napoli central midfield star Zielinski.
Italian outlet Corriere dello Sport (print edition July 24th, page 13) right across West Ham’s interest from the start.
They claimed the Hammers had made a €20 million (£17 million) bid for the Poland star.
That offer was reportedly rejected by Napoli overnight.
But David Moyes seems determined to bring a second Serie A star to the London Stadium in this window.
Because West Ham have made a rapid second offer for Zielinski which meets the Napoli request but must now convince the player claims a new report.
As reported by Corriere dello Sport and Football Italia on Wednesday afternoon, West Ham have offered up to €36m (£30m) total for Zielinski, incredibly close to Napoli’s requests.
It is almost double the original reported offer and shows just how serious the Hammers are about getting their hands on the 72-capped Poland star.
There is a ‘but’ for West Ham, though – isn’t there always?
“West Ham have seemingly offered up to €36m (£30m) total for Zielinski, incredibly close to Napoli’s requests,” Corriere dello Sport and Football Italia report.
“A deal could be reached between the two parties later this week, but things may not be that simple.
“Zielinski is still unconvinced about the move to the Hammers and it would take a huge salary raise, much higher than the €4m (£3.3m) net per season he currently earns, to make him consider the transfer.
“It’s unclear how much the Hammers would be willing to offer at this stage.”
That report is backed up by a claim from Calcio Napoli 24 but interesting they state Zielinski has made it clear he wants to join West Ham having been in and out of the Napoli side more than he would like last season.
The 28-year-old has 72 international caps and has been described as a ‘world class’ player.
Zielinski scored eight goals and laid on five assists in 42 games for Napoli last season. And in the 2020/21 campaign, he notched 10 goals and 13 assists in 47 games (Transfermarkt).
