West Ham have allegedly made contact to sign Paris Saint-Germain defender Layvin Kurzawa in the January transfer window.

That’s according to French media outlet Foot Mercato.

Hammers boss David Moyes clearly needs to sign a top-class left-back this month.

Sure, the Scot’s priorities will be to sign a striker and a centre-back in the January transfer window.

That shouldn’t distract the West Ham manager from his need for a high quality left-back as well though. And it seems as though Moyes is determined to bolster that particular area of his squad in January.

West Ham eyeing January swoop for Layvin Kurzawa

The 29-year-old is firmly on the Hammers’ radar this month according to claims from Foot Mercato.

He is allegedly surplus to requirement at the Parc des Princes and could be London Stadium bound.

ESPN reckon that PSG are looking for around €10 million (£8.3 million) for Kurzawa.

That would be decent value for a player who has played at the very highest level in France and the Champions League for such a sustained period of time.

Kurzawa is an attacking full-back in every sense. The France international is a decent defender as well.

There are some big red flags regarding a potential move to sign the 29-year-old though.

He has had numerous disciplinary problems throughout his career and is surrounded by a ‘bad entourage’ according to a report from The Sun.

You don’t earn 13 caps for France without having something special about you though. And perhaps David Moyes would like the challenge of getting the best out of the PSG star.

The Scot certainly has form in the department. You need look no further than the work he did with Marko Arnautovic during his first spell in charge at West Ham.

Layvin Kurzawa might not be everyone’s cup of tea. He certainly would provide adequate cover and competition for Aaron Cresswell at the London Stadium though and would be a massive upgrade on Arthur Masuaku.

£8.3 million for the 29-year-old left-back seems like very good value to us and we would not be opposed to Moyes bringing him to the London Stadium this month.
