West Ham are being linked with a midfield wonderkid as one of Declan Rice’s replacements as new report makes an exciting Adam Wharton claim.
West Ham fans are well aware they are approaching the final whistle on seeing their beloved captain Declan Rice in the claret and blue.
Rice is being hotly tipped for a big money move from West Ham to Arsenal in the summer.
And the latest reports claim Gunners boss Mikel Arteta is planning Rice talks imminently (The Mirror).
The Hammers will – obviously – have been working to identify potential replacements for Rice for some time in the background.
Not West Ham have all but officially sealed Premier League survival, that search can begin in earnest.

Two players needed to replace generational hybrid talent Rice
Rice is a generational hybrid talent who will not be easily replaced by one single player. So it is likely the Hammers will have to sign two midfielders of differing styles in his stead.
If reports are to be believed soon-to-be relegated Southampton captain James Ward-Prowse is on West Ham’s list of targets.
Other names such as Lazio’s Sergej Milinkovic-Savic, Eintracht Frankfurt star Djibril Sow and Marseille’s Matteo Guendouzi have also been heavily linked.
Now a new name has been added to the mix.

It will not have gone unnoticed by West Ham fans that Blackburn Rovers supporters goaded bitter rivals Millwall by signing bubbles at the weekend.
Blackburn came from 3-1 down to beat Millwall 4-3 and end their dreams of being promoted via the play-offs.
Former longstanding West Ham target Ben Brereton-Diaz scored the goals which turned the game on its head.
But it is one of his teammates the Hammers are allegedly considering moving for now.

Blackburn also missed out on the play-offs despite their victory. And that means the club may have to sell some players should bids come in. Particularly as they are losing Brereton-Diaz on a free to Villarreal.
The Daily Mail claims West Ham have been watching Rovers’ midfield wonderkid Wharton.
Wharton is described as a ‘taller Jack Wilshere, who can play and tackle’. He can also score too – getting the second senior goal of his career against Millwall.
The report claims a number of Premier League clubs have had scouts watching Blackburn’s young side of late, including West Ham.
And they have all come away raving about Wharton.
With Flynn Downes already in the building and West Ham expected to sign at least one or two established stars in midfield.
It could be the club signs Wharton and leaves him at Blackburn on loan, with his club said to be keen for him to continue his development at Ewood Park.
