West Ham journalist Roshane Thomas shared what David Moyes told him about his January transfer plans, when speaking on The Athletic’s U Irons podcast.

The Hammers are in great shape at the moment. We are flying high in fifth spot in the Premier League table.
Moyes’s men can jump as high as third with a win against Manchester United on Saturday.
What a turnaround eh!
Despite our fine recent form, it is still clear to see that Moyes needs to bolster his ranks at the London Stadium – certainly if we are to challenge for a top six spot in the table.
West Ham need three more top quality additions – a centre-back, a central midfielder and a centre-forward.
It could even be argued that we need another left wing-back as well.
It seems as though we may have to wait until the summer to see any new additions, however.
Roshane Thomas shared what Moyes told him regarding his January transfer plans, when speaking on The Athletic’s U Irons podcast:
“I asked Moyes last Friday if he’s looking at bringing in a lot of players and he said that the mindset he’s in right now, he would rather go big in the summer and try and recruit players then.”
If West Ham are in good shape in the league come January, it would be incredibly refreshing to see our owners show some real ambition and back Moyes in the market.
It seems as though it may be the Scot’s wish to wait until the summer before strengthening his ranks, however.
We as fans need to trust the manager and the process. Moyes deserves time after what he has done over the past few months.
And if he feels as though the Hammers will be best equipped to make signings of sufficient quality in the summer rather than January, then so be it.
