West Ham are reportedly keeping a close eye on Inter Milan attacker Ivan Perisic.

Hammers boss David Moyes has assembled a fabulous group of players at the London Stadium since he was handed the reigns back in December 2019.

Every single signing Moyes has made, he has got right.

Out of 13 players signed by the Scot over the past two years (including loans), only two of them have been over 30 – Craig Dawson and Darren Randolph.

It seems as though another 30+ player could be on the Hammers’ radar, however.

West Ham chasing Ivan Perisic?

Fichajes.net claims that the Hammers are keeping an eye on the 32-year-old winger’s current situation with his contract set to expire with Inter Milan in the summer of 2022.

We just can’t see this one having any truth in it though.

Firstly, if West Ham are going to sign another winger, Moyes should be targeting someone with blistering pace.

That’s one thing we don’t really possess on the flanks so in order to mix things up, the acquisition of a pacy wide-man would make sense. Perisic clearly is not the man for the job.

Secondly, the 109-capped Croatian international is on a whopping £80k-a-week (Sempre Inter). The last thing West Ham need is another mercenary looking for one last big contract.

We’ve made that mistake in the past and we shouldn’t be doing it again.

Thirdly, and most importantly, Moyes should be prioritising moves to sign a striker and a left-back either in January or next summer.

Perisic was a very good player in his day. That time has long since passed, however.

West Ham could and should be setting our sights a lot higher than the Croatian nowadays.
