It appears as though West Ham United won’t be signing Isco from Real Madrid in the summer transfer window.

Reports emerged yesterday that the Hammers were lining up a move to sign the 29-year-old Madrid star on a free transfer at the end of this season.

That won’t be the case, however.

That’s according to a report from Hammers insiders Claret and Hugh who claim that the rumour is completely ‘made up’.

No surprise there then!

There was never any realistic possibility that West Ham would bring Isco to the London Stadium. And now one of the highest level insiders in the West Ham community have all but confirmed that…

West Ham signing Isco a non-starter

That’s according to Claret and Hugh who claim that there is absolutely no truth in the rumours linking the Hammers with a move to sign the four-time Champions League winner on a free transfer.

I’m pretty sure we all knew that anyway!

First and foremost, David Moyes has made it very clear that West Ham won’t be signing ageing players who are past their best any more.

Isco will be 30 in April and expecting him to acclimatise to the Premier League at that age would be unrealistic.

Secondly, the 38-capped Spain international currently earns around £210k-a-week at Madrid according to Real Madrid Latest News.

Considering the fact that he will be a free agent in the summer, you can bet your life he will demanding more than what he is currently earning.

There is absolutely no way West Ham will be paying any player more than £150k-a-week in the summer. We couldn’t even tie Ben Johnson down to a long-term deal and had to trigger a two-year extension option instead!

Having said all of that, not signing Isco is good news. We really don’t want West Ham to go back to the dark old days when we offered mercenaries in search of one last big contract huge deals.

Now, our recruitment was non-extent in January. Hopefully that all changes in the summer. We won’t be losing any sleep over the fact that we won’t be signing Isco though.
