West Ham United are allegedly eyeing a potential move to sign Burnley goalkeeper Nick Pope in the summer transfer window.
That’s according to club insiders Claret and Hugh who claim that the Hammers could turn to the 30-year-old Englishman if we fail to agree terms with Alphonse Areola.

With Lukasz Fabianski staying at the London Stadium for one more year and Darren Randolph set to be shipped out, signing Areola will be key for David Moyes this summer.
The Frenchman has enjoyed some memorable moments since joining West Ham on loan from Paris Saint-Germain last summer.
The 6ft 5in ace has proven to be a top-class stopper and is on another level entirely to Fabianski. However, there have been concerns that Areola’s wages will be a problem, as outlined here by Claret and Hugh.

At the same time though, Gianluca Di Marzio reckons that the 29-year-old’s permanent move to the London Stadium is imminent.
It remains to be seen what ends up happening in regards to Areola’s future with the Hammers but for now, there have been claims that David Moyes could look elsewhere…
West Ham eyeing summer swoop for Nick Pope
Claret and Hugh reckon that the 30-year-old Burnley ace has been the subject of discussion by Moyes and his recruitment team.
It is alleged that Pope would cost around £20 million and would only demand around £40k-a-week in wages – a third of Areola’s demands.
Frstly, we have to make this clear – we strongly believe that Areola would be a better option than Pope. If we are unable to strike a deal for the Frenchman though, the Burnley stopper would be a good alternative.

The 30-year-old is a fantastic shot-stopper. The West Ham fans will know all about that having seen him put in a man-of-the-match display at the London Stadium a few weeks ago.
Pope is commanding in the air and is a fantastic communicator.
The Burnley ace isn’t the best with the ball at his feet but that doesn’t matter too much considering how Moyes likes his team to get the ball up the pitch quickly.
£20 million for Pope sounds like decent value to us. We have a £10 million option to buy Areola though (The Daily Mail). And whilst the Frenchman will demand huge wages, we strongly believe that he will be the better option for us going forward.
West Ham signing Nick Pope in the summer wouldn’t be a bad move at all but it should be a backup option for Moyes.
Let’s hope we get a permanent deal done for Areola asap.
