West Ham have initiated contact with Clermont regarding a move for striker Mohamed Bayo according to a report from Le 10 Sport.
The 23-year-old has enjoyed promotion with Clermont last season and he really impressed with 22 goals and seven assists in 38 games (Transfermarkt).
At just 23, he has so much talent and potential. He is still very raw of course. He has all the skills needed but they need to be refined before he becomes an elite striker.
That’s what makes him perfect for West Ham, however.
David Moyes desperately needs to bring a striker to the London Stadium.
The problem for the Scot is that funds are tight and what top class striker will want to join the Hammers considering the fact that Michail Antonio is a shoo-in to play every week when fit?
West Ham signing Mohamed Bayo would be very smart
The Guinea international possesses real pace and he is strong as an ox.
The 23-year-old is very similar to Michail Antonio. The Clermont ace is not quite on the 31-year-old’s level yet regarding physicality.
Bayo is certainly a more refined finisher than Antonio, however.
Shopping in the French league would be a sensible move from Moyes and West Ham. There is so much untapped talent.
And the 23-year-old Clermont ace certainly fits into that category.
Lille and Bordeaux want Bayo as well but according to Le 10 Sport, West Ham are far better placed than the Ligue 1 duo to obtain the Guinean’s signature.
Girondins4ever.com recently claimed that the striker could be available for around €10 million (£8.5m). That represents superb value.
