Rugani transfer set to be finalised but not by West Ham – report

West Ham are set to finally make their first new signing of a miserable transfer window with the capture of the Czech Republic international.

According to Sky Sports West Ham have a medical booked today as they close in on the Slavia Prague defender.

West Ham in race against time to get Coufal signed for Leicester

Premier League rules state that only players signed and registered before 12pm on a Friday will be eligible for the matches on Saturday, Sunday and Monday.

If Sky Sports are correct and Coufal does have his medical booked for today (Thursday) then it gives them less than 24 hours to dot the i’s and cross the t’s on the deal with Slavia Prague.

The fact West Ham and Slavia Prague have already done business in the shape of Tomas Soucek should help as there is an established relationship between the two clubs.

Have Hammers finally found the solution to right-back problem?

The deal for Coufal is thought to be in the region of £5million. The 28-year-old starred for Czech Republic against England.

And he shone in the Champions League for Slavia, particularly against Barcelona.

With an average match rating of between 6.75 and 8 on Whoscored.com Coufal looks set to be a quality addition by West Ham.

Of course he will need to adapt to the rough and tumble of the Premier League.

West Ham on to a winner if Coufal settles like Soucek

But if he settles in like Soucek has then West Ham could be on to a winner.

Right back has been a problem position for West Ham dating back years.

The departures of Jeremy Ngakia and Pablo Zabaleta have left the injury-prone and inconsistent Ryan Fredericks competing with unproven Ben Johnson for the right-back spot at West Ham.

Fredericks had put in some solid displays but injured his hamstring in the win over Wolves last weekend.

Is the great GSB divide actually helping West Ham?
