West Ham are preparing to lose Mateus Fernandes this summer following their relegation from the Premier League.

Manchester United, Arsenal and Paris Saint-Germain have all been linked with signing the Portuguese midfielder.

Although the Hammers will reportedly hold out for a fee of around £80 million, it is highly unlikely that he will remain in East London.

The good news for West Ham supporters is that they have already lined up a suitable replacement from France.

West Ham target Troyes’ Martin Adeline to replace Mateus Fernandes

The Daily Mail has reported that West Ham are “showing interest” in Troyes playmaker Martin Adeline this summer.

Adeline contributed 10 goals and 11 assists in the 2025/26 campaign as Troyes won the Ligue 2 title.

The 22-year-old also has significant international pedigree, having represented France Under-20s eight times.

West Ham would need to convince Adeline to turn down the opportunity to play in France’s top flight next season.

However, the Hammers are a much bigger club than Troyes and would probably offer a better financial package despite being in the Championship.

Some transfers are easier to accept than others… 👀

Plus, Enzo Le Fee’s move to Sunderland last year proves that English clubs can still be hugely attractive in the second division.

Adeline is only valued at £9 million (€10m) on Transfermarkt, with just one year remaining on his contract at Troyes.

Even if he cost closer to £20m, West Ham would still have around £50m to spare once they sell Fernandes to a Champions League club.

This would be a big step in the right direction for the Hammers, as they look to rebuild the squad ahead of next season.
