West Ham hopes of signing player David Moyes 'desperately wants' in January over after alleged £30m demands

West Ham boss David Moyes surely won’t be signing James Tarkowski from Burnley in the January transfer window.

That’s because The Daily Mail are now claiming that Burnley boss Sean Dyche is demanding a massive £30 million from any club that wants to prise the 29-year-old centre-back away from Turf Moor this month.

Hammers manager David Moyes desperately needs to bring a top-class central defender to the London Stadium before the January transfer window slams shut.

Burnley defender James Tarkowski would have been a very shrewd January addition for West Ham.

The Clarets’ ridiculous asking price for the 29-year-old will undoubtedly put an end to our hopes of signing him though…

West Ham boss David Moyes to miss out on Tarkowski in January?

The Daily Mail claims that Burnley are desperate to keep hold of the centre-back this month. That’s no shock to be honest, they are fighting for their lives at the bottom of the Premier League table after all.

As a result, they are demanding a quite ludicrous £30 million for his signature in the January window.

Tarkowski is 29 and is out of contract in the summer. So it is clear to see that no club will be paying that kind of fee for him this month.

That’s a shame because we think Tarkowski would have been a fine addition for the Hammers.

He’s strong in the air, tenacious in the tackle, is a real leader and is somewhat of a throwback to defenders from years gone by.

In 36 Premier League appearances for Burnley last season, the 28-year-old averaged 1.8 tackles, 1.2 interceptions, 4.4 clearances and 1.2 blocks per game. He also won an average of 4.6 aerial duels per match (Who Scored).

Those really are some very impressive numbers.

Tarkowski would certainly be a massive upgrade on Issa Diop and would be the ideal partner for Kurt Zouma at the heart of West Ham’s defence.

The Independent suggested that the Scot is desperate to bring the Burnley defender to West Ham this summer.

This seems like one that West Ham will have to wait for though. £30 million is far too much money to be paying for someone who will be available on a free transfer in just five month’s time.
