West Ham have been in discussions with the agent of Genk hitman Paul Onuachu according to Own Goal Nigeria.

Unfortunately for the Hammers, however, there has been no breakthrough.

West Ham boss David Moyes is desperate to sign a new centre-forward this summer.

The Scot currently has Michail Antonio as the only recognised senior striker to choose from at the London Stadium.

One of the names to have been linked with a move to West Ham recently is Paul Onuachu.

It seems as though the Hammers are not anywhere near close to signing the 13-capped Nigeria international, however.

West Ham Paul Onuachu talks hit impasse

Own Goal Nigeria claim that Hammers officials have just met with the 27-year-old’s agent but unfortunately no breakthrough was made.

It is suggested that a fee totalling around £17.2 million will be enough to prise him away from Genk (Own Goal Nigeria).

That really would be a huge bargain for West Ham.

Onuachu seems to have all of the attributes needed to succeed at the London Stadium.

The Genk hitman was on fire last season racking up 29 goals in 33 League games (Transfermarkt).

The 13-capped Nigeria international is an absolute giant. Standing at 6ft 7in tall, Paul Onuachu is understandably an absolute menace in the air. That aerial ability suits West Ham’s style of play perfectly what with the onus Moyes places upon set-pieces.

Hopefully we manage to make a breakthrough in discussions at some point. Onuachu would be the absolute ideal summer signing for David Moyes.

£17 million for the Nigerian seems like a more than fair price to us. Hopefully the Hammers board come to that realisation as well at some point in the near future.
