West Ham have the perfect answer to seal a deal with Leeds right under their nose as talks are held for Crysencio Summerville.

West Ham want to sign a new left-sided attacker this window and now attentions have turned back to Leeds United.

One of the first targets the Hammers were linked with this summer window was Leeds United’s Crysencio Summerville.

It came after a West Ham move for his Leeds teammate Wilfried Gnonto had been persistently mooted in previous windows.

Graeme Bailey claimed West Ham had been impressed by jet-heeled Summerville after having him watched up close playing for Leeds last season.

Bailey said West Ham were one of the clubs that wanted to sign Summerville this summer if Leeds did not get promoted, as proved to be their fate come what May.

Dutch Under 21 star Summerville is not just one of the best players in the Championship, he was statistically the best player.

No sooner had West Ham been linked, though, than the likes of Chelsea and Liverpool were said to be on the case too.

Since then the Hammers have turned their attentions to other targets in that position including Matias Soule, Jota Silva, Wilf Zaha and several more.

Nothing has come to fruition, though. And now it seems West Ham find themselves knocking on Leeds’ door once more.

The Hammers have been linked with a new move for Summerville with talks said to be taking place with Leeds.

Fabrizio Romano and Give Me Sport have both reported that West Ham have submitted a proposal to sign Summerville.

Fans have not been getting their hopes up, though, because the claims have been caveated by the fact the deal will be expensive and that no agreement is close.

West Ham have perfect answer to seal deal with Leeds

Leeds will be under pressure to secure promotion back to the Premier League at the second time of asking next season.

So they will need to be sure they have quality players in the door to do just that.

The problem is if Leeds sell Summerville to West Ham the fee will be widely publicised, meaning every club knows how much money the Elland Road side have burning a hole in their pockets.

On the flip side the Hammers need to shift some deadwood to raise funds.

Julen Lopepetegui’s desire to sign a left-sided player spells bad news for Maxwel Cornet.

Leeds can get Max out of Hammers deal

The West Ham outcast has had a disastrous time at West Ham since signing from Burnley for £17.5m.

But there is a quality player there who needs to find his way again by playing regularly.

So West Ham could keep the cost of the Summerville deal down by offering Cornet as a makeweight in the deal.

Leeds were linked with Cornet in the last two windows.

It may mean dropping down to the Championship but Leeds are a big club and Cornet could get his career back on track there.

That would help grease the wheels for Summerville to join West Ham, where Lopetegui wants to start using Lucas Paqueta – while he has him – in a more central role.
