West Ham United and Liverpool have been told to pay at least €40 million (£34 million) for Perr Schuurs this summer.

According to a report from Calciomercato, Torino centre-back Perr Schuurs is firmly on the radars of both West Ham and Liverpool in the summer transfer window.

West Ham and Liverpool have been heavily linked with a move to sign the 23-year-old Torino defender over the past couple of months.

Hammers boss David Moyes definitely needs to strengthen his central defensive ranks this summer.

Schuurs would be a great option for us, but it seemingly won’t be easy for Moyes to bring him to the London Stadium…

Calciomercato reckon that the Hammers and Liverpool both want to sign the central defender this summer, but won’t be able to pick him up for anything less than £34 million.

RD Football Scout have described Schuurs as ‘brilliant’. I totally agree with that assessment – the Torino ace is an elite defender in the making.

The 6ft 3in Dutchman is incredibly strong in the air, and certainly has the physical capabilities needed to succeed in the Premier League.

In 27 Serie A outings last season, Schuurs averaged 1.7 tackles, one interception, 3.2 clearances and two successful aerial duels per game (Who Scored).

During those appearances, the Dutchman made 39.8 passes per game on average and recorded a completion rate of 88.2% (Who Scored).

£34 million actually sounds like a lot of money to be paying for someone who is completely unproven in the Premier League.

However, I believe that that fee could end up being very good value for money for the Hammers.

West Ham signing Perr Schuurs this summer would make us a stronger team. And he’d be far better value for money than Harry Maguire as far as I’m concerned.
