Calcio Mercato claimed earlier this year that Hammers boss David Moyes wanted to bring the German World Cup winner to the London Stadium.

Tutto Mercato Web then suggested at the start of this month that West Ham were eyeing a January swoop for the 33-year-old midfielder.

It seems as though Everton are showing more concrete interest in Khedira now, however.

Toffees officials are attempting to secure a deal to bring Juve ace Khedira to Goodison Park as a Christmas present for Carlo Ancelotti.

He will apparently be available on a free transfer (Corriere dello Sport). Juventus tried to terminate his deal earlier this season but to no avail.

If West Ham do indeed want to sign the German in order to bolster our central midfield ranks, we had better act fast.

Calcio Mercato recently described the 33-year-old as the ‘prototype of the perfect player for every coach’.

The truth of the matter, however, is that signing Sami Khedira would go against everything David Moyes supposedly stands for.

The Scot has repeatedly insisted that he wants to bring young and hungry players to the London Stadium.

Moyes wants to build a youthful, energetic and robust side. Signing Khedira, as good as he was in his day, would represent the antithesis of the Scot’s apparent vision for West Ham.

We say let Everton have him. Ancelotti may well be a fan of the 33-year-old, and good luck to him.

Khedira isn’t the man to help take West Ham forward, however.
